Christmas Edible Cinema in Shoreditch and Notting Hill
Edible Cinema has gone a little leftfield by choosing Eddie Murphy’s all-time classic, Trading Places, as its seasonal movie.  But given its massive feelgood factor and being based in amongst snowy Philadelphia streets and glittering Christmas parties, it all makes sense.  Guests will be treated to an edible adventure through the film, where experiences will range from tasting the stolen salmon in Santa’s beard, smelling the success of pork bellies and even imagining what a gorilla’s kiss might feel like. 14th and 15th December at the Aubin Cinema and on 21st and 22nd December at the Electric Cinema. Tickets start at £18 from

The Brewhouse Christmas Fair, 21 December

Weary of Westfield? Sick of Central? London Fields Brewery is hosting an alternative to the consumerist dogfight of Christmas shopping with their own Christmas Fair.  Visit during the day to get involved in a Grumpy Grotto for discontented adults, make-your-own Christmas decoration stalls & face painting for the kids, alongside fantastic street food from some of our favourite vendors.  As the night falls and the temperature drops, warm yourselves up with a hot spiced beer cocktail while cutting a rug on the dance floor until midnight.  Open from 12pm-12am. Free entry.


MORE London Christmas Market, 11-15 December

Located near London Bridge, the MORE Riverside market will feature a number of start-up businesses – many based in South East London – bringing their delicious food and handmade gifts.  Alongside around 20 stalls each day, visitors can also enjoy a host of seasonal entertainment, including a Rodeo Reindeer, a visit by Santa and performances by the Salvation Army Band.  Open everyday from 11am-6pm.

Chatsworth Road Market, 15 & 22 December

Chatsworth Road Market in Hackney’s has announced a special programme of entertainment for its upcoming Christmas season. The specially-commissioned markets will turn this increasingly popular independent high-street into a festive wonderland including appearances by Santa and his reindeers.   The street will also be alive performances from carol singers and local musicians whilst food and cocktails will be provided from popular street foodies, including Hanoi Kitchen, Quesadilla Cart and The Cellar Bar.

Chocolate Festival @ Southbank, 13-15 December

Southbank will be transformed into a chocoholic’s paradise, with stalls selling and sampling chocolate in all its forms, from warming hot chocolate to artisan truffles.   Visitors can also chat to some of the UK’s top chocolatiers, including Paul A Young and Damien Allsop, and attend a series of free tutored tastings and demonstrations in the Chocolate Cookery Theatre.  For the ultimate cocoa experience, check out Valrhona Chocolate’s Afternoon Tea – at Brasserie Blanc just opposite the festival – for an afternoon based on Joanne Harris’ international best-selling novel ‘Chocolat’.

Lodge d’Argent @ Coq d’Argent, EC2

Lodge d’Argent is bringing a touch of the Alps après-ski atmosphere to the City, with snug blankets, antlers adorning the walls and ski jacket-clad waiters. A special menu features playful Alpine favourites like fondue and tartiflette, whilst drinks include warming hot toddies, mulled wine and Belvedere vodka cocktails.

The Chalet @ Archer Street Bar, W1

Get set to journey to the snowy mountains of some of the worlds’ leading ski resorts, whilst never having to set foot outside London with the return of The Chalet at Archer Street in Soho.  The comforting décor of dark wooden flooring, rafter boards and antique skis decorating the walls will provide a feeling reminiscent of an authentic winter retreat, whilst a range of festive cocktails will ensure spirits are kept high!
