East London is renowned for being a melting pot of cultures; you only need to drive down Mile End Road to see (and smell) the result of the various communities who call the area ‘home’. By contrast, drive a couple of hundred yards further into The City and you will be met by one of London’s most uninteresting areas. The same suits, identical office blocks and same sandwiches from different venues at lunchtime. So when Wrap It Up! promised me a world of flavour in the heart of The City, I thought it was definitely worth a visit.
This place is pure colour in the grey world. The menu contains a wide range of delicious and nutritious wraps, yet the concept is very simple – walk in, choose your wrap and watch it being made in front of you- all to the beat of some unique and lively world music. The vibrant and welcoming eatery takes its inspiration from street markets from around the world and with impressively sized wraps priced around £4, you’d be forgiven for thinking you are paying street market prices!
As the name would suggest, Wrap It Up! favours freshly made rotis and flavoured tortillas over traditional sandwich breads. The impressive choice of freshly made fillings includes everything from Trinidadian Chicken and Mexican Beef Burritos, to Mediterranean Marinated Peppers and Cajun Crayfish. Furthermore, the sweet-toothed will not be disappointed by the fresh deserts; the banoffee pie is quite exceptional, whilst they also have healthier fruit salads. Additionally, early birds will be able to get a taste of their more orthodox range of breakfasts wraps.
