Nancy Lams Enak Enak, SW11

Crazy of hair colour and personality, Nancy is the original celeb Oriental chef.  In an age where chefs seem to be spending more timenancylam Nancy Lams Enak Enak, SW11 opening new restaurants than actually cooking, it is refreshing to see that in the 5 years that I have been visiting, Nancy has been ever-present.  The experience is as much about the food as the personality and atmosphere of the intimate 50 cover restaurant.  Front of house is taken care of by Nancy’s lovely daughters, whilst the kitchen is run by Nancy and her husband, giving a real homely and relaxed feel.  However, once service starts Nancy will manoeuvre herself into centre-stage, where she will often engage in humourous banter with the (many regular) customers.

 

Enak Enak is Indonesian for ‘yum yum’ and the menu is exactly that.  Featuring a blend of various Far Eastern cuisines, including Indonesian, Thai and Chinese, all of the food shares the same fresh, clean and perfectly balanced flavours.  The BBQ prawns are incredible, whilst her fishcakes and spare ribs are a must also.  The mains feature a lamb curry with a range of spices that will have your taste-buds tingling for days, whilst the sweet and sour prawns are coated in the lightest batter and most delicate flavour.

 

Enak Enak provides a truly memorable experience that really puts the increasingly pretentious Oriental restaurants of London to shame with both personality and food!
